I like to select a scripture and pray it over each of my children every night. I pray the same scripture for a prolong period of time. For example I might say, "Goodnight (child's name), may the Lord guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus."
My children would look forward to receiving the prayer over them and the result was they learned the scripture by heart. They would even remind me if I forgot to pray for them
Some other scriptures I have prayed over my children are:
Philippians 4:7 "the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard your heart and mind through Christ Jesus."
Numbers 6:24-26 "The LORD bless you and keep you, The LORD make His face shine on you, and be gracious to you. The LORD turn His face towards you and give you peace."
Proverbs 3:3 "Let not mercy and truth forsake you, bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart."
Sometimes it is a corrective scripture, such as, Proverbs 21:23 "Whoever guards his mouth and tongue keeps his soul from troubles."
There is such power in the word of God. I have seen firsthand how speaking the scriptures over them has changed their hearts. I thank God for His Word!
